Romanovs are lambing machines! We began raising Romanovs because we wanted better out of season conception and better lambing rates and have been very pleased with them. They breed regularly in our spring breeding season and have two to five lambs. By three to four months old, they are sexually mature and can breed at any month of the year. An ewe can produce quadruplets, quintuplets and even sextuplets.

Since they are smaller framed sheep and yet have so many lambs, they often cannot support all their lambs. This results in more bottle lambs. Romanovs work great to increase out of season breeding and lambing rates. 50%Katahdin50%Romanov crosses will be on the woolly side, but still shed well for commercial flocks.
